Scheduling a Regression Session

If you are interested in having your own regression session at my office in Gilroy, California (30 minutes south of San Jose), I’d be happy to discuss scheduling with you. You can contact me by calling 408-930-0052, or through email to: acbarham@garlic.com. Regression sessions typically take two to three hours and I will provide you with a tape of the session to take home with you.

Most people wonder if a regression will really work for them. It is only on rare occasions that clients do not bring up past life material. Instead, a memory from early childhood that seems pertinent to the issue of concern comes up, or we find that current life situations or anxieties intervene and need to be worked on first. What works best is to approach the experience with an open mind, not expecting anything in particular. (For example, if you approach a regression just knowing you’re going to discover a lifetime when you were a fighter pilot, this might get in the way of what really comes up.)

Many people expect that they’re going to see their past life vividly, in great detail. This isn’t always the case, especially when experiencing your first regression. Although some clients find they "see" things in their mind’s eye quite clearly, others may find the impressions somewhat vague, only portions coming in clearly. Information comes through in a number of ways -- physical sensations (like feeling hot or cold), hearing what people are saying around you, just knowing something intuitively all of a sudden. The best approach is to focus on the images and feelings you experience, don’t worry about whether it makes sense or is "real" or not, and trust whatever comes up at the time.

Typically, people who have a regular meditation or relaxation practice move most quickly into a past life regression experience. This shows that this is a skill that can be learned. The more you practice, the more detailed your experiences will be and the more easily memories will be recovered. However, there are also people who have never done any relaxation practice that recover detailed information quickly and easily. The only way to know how it works for you is to give it a try. It is helpful if you have a specific question or issue you would like to explore, but it can also be left open to your inner guidance to bring up a memory that has pertinence for your current life.

My Credentials

I hold a Masters degree in Counseling Psychology from Santa Clara University, and am licensed with the State of California as a Marriage & Family Therapist (Lic # MFC32893), and am a Level II Certified Regression Therapist with the International Board of Regression Therapy. I have maintained a private practice in Gilroy, California, since 1993, with a focus on transpersonal psychology and relationship issues. Professional memberships include: clinical member of the California Association of Marriage & Family Therapists; life member of the International Association of Regression Reseach & Therapy.  In addition to specialized training in hypnosis, psychosynthesis, and therapeutic imagery, I have been fortunate to train with some of the "greats" of past life therapy, particularly Dr. Brian Weiss, Dr.Roger Woolger, and Dr. Winafred Lucas.

Other Resources

There are a number of qualified regression therapists across the country. I highly recommend that you find someone who has trained specifically in regression therapy, (not just a hypnotist who happens to also do regressions), particularly someone who is certified with the International Board for Regression Therapy (IBRT). IBRT has established important standards of training, experience, ethics, and demonstrated competence in order to qualify for certification. You can also check with the International Association for Regression Research and Therapies (IARRT) for a list of members in your area. Dr. Brian Weiss also maintains a list of therapists around the world who have trained with him. (See Related Links to contact these organizations.) It is helpful to work with a licensed counselor who is schooled in dealing with emotional and traumatic material. In the event this comes up in your regression session, a licensed counselor should be more effective in helping you to process and integrate such material.

Another approach to retrieving past life information is to work through psychics and channelers. Although I think the material is more personally meaningful and transformative when it is elicited from our own unconscious, there is one individual whom I would recommend if you wish to seek information from higher guides. That is Ron Scolastico, Ph.D., of Transpersonal Consultation Group (see Related Links). I highly recommend any of his material, including personal readings.
